Gabriel Enters General Election with California Democratic Party Endorsement and Significant Financial Resources
ENCINO, CA -- Yesterday, Constitutional Rights Attorney Jesse Gabriel secured a commanding victory in the special election primary contest for the 45th Assembly District. Gabriel finished first in a crowded filed of eight candidates, winning 32% of the vote and securing more than double the votes of his nearest Democratic competitor. Gabriel now faces 19-year old Republican candidate Justin Clark in the June 5th general special election.
Gabriel’s campaign also announced that he had secured the endorsement of the California Democratic Party (CDP), and begins the general election campaign with approximately $150,000 cash-on-hand.
In a statement released following the announcement, CDP Chair Eric Bauman declared:
“Though the CDP didn't make an endorsement in the Primary, Jesse Gabriel is now our endorsed candidate in AD 45. I have known Jesse Gabriel for many years, through his work as a Constitutional Law Attorney, his environmental work and particularly for his work fighting for Dreamers. He will be an outstanding member of the Assembly, and California Democrats are proud to unite around him as our endorsed candidate in the Special General Election.”
Following his victory, Gabriel commented:
“I’m extremely grateful for the support our campaign received across the 45th Assembly District, and deeply appreciate the hard work of our many volunteers and neighborhood leaders. I also want to thank the other Democratic candidates in the race, who all ran spirited and hard-fought campaigns. I look forward to working with Valley leaders and the California Democratic Party to grow our coalition of support as we march toward the June 5th general election."
Jesse Gabriel is a Los Angeles County Commissioner and Constitutional Rights Attorney who has represented clients before the United States Supreme Court. He is currently suing the Trump Administration in two landmark lawsuits which seek to protect undocumented children known as Dreamers. Through his legal work and legislative advocacy, Jesse has assisted Holocaust survivors, victims of domestic abuse, and communities facing the threat of hate-motivated violence. Jesse has also helped to resolve complex business disputes through his work with a major law firm. Prior to beginning his law practice, Jesse worked to advance the Democratic Party agenda in the United States Senate, where he served as a senior advisor to former United States Senator Evan Bayh.
A committed environmentalist and longtime community activist, Jesse also serves on the board of directors of the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters and the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles, and as a Commissioner on the Los Angeles County Commission on Local Government Services.
Jesse lives in Encino with his wife Rachel Rosner, an affordable housing attorney, and their sons Ethan and Joshua. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School and UC Berkeley.
