LA Mayor Eric Garcetti is Latest to Endorse Jesse Gabriel’s AD-45 Bid
ENCINO, CA -- Injecting a new burst of momentum into his campaign, today Constitutional Rights Attorney Jesse Gabriel received the endorsement of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti in his bid for the 45th Assembly District.
In a statement released following the announced endorsement, Mayor Garcetti declared:
"Jesse Gabriel has the background, experience and values to be an extremely effective Assemblymember. Jesse will make sure that the Valley gets its fair share of state resources and transportation funding. In Sacramento, Jesse Gabriel will lead in expanding access to higher education, making healthcare more affordable and improving public safety. Jesse Gabriel has shown time and again that he is willing to stand up and defend the vulnerable. I am proud to endorse him for State Assembly.”
Gabriel recently finished first in a crowded field in the special election primary contest for the 45th Assembly District, winning 32% of the vote and securing more than double the votes of his nearest Democratic competitor. Gabriel now faces 19-year old Republican candidate Justin Clark in the June 5th general special election.
Gabriel’s campaign also announced that he had secured the endorsement of the California Democratic Party (CDP), and begins the general election campaign with more than $150,000 cash-on-hand.
Jesse Gabriel is a Los Angeles County Commissioner and Constitutional Rights Attorney who has represented clients before the United States Supreme Court. He is currently suing the Trump Administration in two landmark lawsuits which seek to protect undocumented children known as Dreamers. Through his legal work and legislative advocacy, Jesse has assisted Holocaust survivors, victims of domestic abuse, and communities facing the threat of hate-motivated violence. Jesse has also helped to resolve complex business disputes through his work with a major law firm. Prior to beginning his law practice, Jesse worked to advance the Democratic Party agenda in the United States Senate, where he served as a senior advisor to former United States Senator Evan Bayh.
A committed environmentalist and longtime community activist, Jesse also serves on the board of directors of the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters and the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles, and as a Commissioner on the Los Angeles County Commission on Local Government Services.
Jesse lives in Encino with his wife Rachel Rosner, an affordable housing attorney, and their sons Ethan and Joshua. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School and UC Berkeley.
